Tips for Maintenance Between Brazilian Waxes

Who doesn't love the feeling of a soft, smooth, hairless kitty  – and, no, we’re not talking about the feline! With brazilian waxing being one of the most requested waxing services, there is no doubt that many of our clients feel confident and happy after their hair removal session with us. But what about between sessions? What do we do when our puurrfect peach starts to get a little fuzzy? Thankfully, you’re not the only one with this question – and that’s why we’ve curated our best suggestions so you can strut your stuff with confidence between sessions.

Never shave in between appointments

If you’re considering using waxing as your preferred hair removal method, you should say “adios!”  to your razor. You won't have to worry about any more pesky issues with razor burn as shaving in between appointments is something that your wax technician will always ask you to avoid.

Shaving interrupts your hair growth cycle

The quality of your hair growth and the regularity of your growth cycles are affected every time you choose to shave after you wax. In fact, the more you wax, the thinner the shaft of your hair becomes when it grows back. Waxing over time means that these thin hairs are less painful to remove. Since shaving doesn't remove your hair at the root, any regrowth becomes stronger and fuller than it was before.

Schedule your appointments 4 to 6 weeks apart

While regrowth can feel unsightly or embarrassing if you’re used to having a blank slate, it is critical to allow time for any regrowth to reach at least a quarter of an inch long. If at least a quarter of an inch of hair is not present, it could inhibit your esthetician from providing a successful wax!

Sure, having some regrowth may feel odd or uncomfortable at first, but you should feel confident knowing that your next waxing appointment can be scheduled in as little as four weeks out! It is important to understand your growth cycles and plan accordingly to ensure you walk out with the best results possible.

Keep a consistent routine of exfoliation and moisturizing

Outside of the urge to landscape, it is important to keep your Brave Kitty moisturized and exfoliated regularly! Due to the coarse texture of pubic hair, there is a chance that any new regrowth can become entrapped under the hair follicle, creating the perfect conditions for ingrown hairs. Keeping a regular routine of hydration and exfoliation means you set yourself up for success!

The importance of using the right moisturizer

Finding the right moisturizer for the sensitive bits is more than just pulling your favorite Bath and Body Works lotion off of the shelf. In fact, ensuring that your moisturizer of choice provides the necessary nutrients your skin needs, as well as avoiding any potential for irritation is very important. After all, many of us put quite a bit of time and effort into researching a beneficial skin care routine for our face – why not treat our most sensitive bits with the same consideration?

How often should you exfoliate?

Once a few days have passed and your skin has successfully healed, it is important to pounce on the opportunity to exfoliate regularly. When you regularly exfoliate, your skin is less likely to accumulate dry and dead skin cells that not only look bad, but can affect the quality of your wax.

Here at Brave Kitty Waxing, we recommend practicing a regular exfoliation schedule of at least twice a week to ensure your skin stays healthy, soft, and bump-free.

The benefits of keeping regular brazilian waxing appointments

When you keep up with your waxing appointments, you leave your appointment not only feeling great, but also treating yourself in a few other ways.

Sparser, finer hair growth over time

Did we mention that your hair grows back finer after each session? Oh – we did? Well, we have no problems saying it again! After all, why wouldn't you want finer, less noticeable hair?

Over time, as you commit to regular waxing appointments, your regrowth will become more sparse and finer with each wax. Not only will this mean less noticeable hair, but you may also become more comfortable between sessions.

Your body gets used to the sensation of waxing

If fine regrowth was not convincing enough, that finer hair becomes even less painful to wax over time. Aren't our bodies amazing?

Over time your body can get used to the sensation of waxing and become more tolerant to any minor discomfort you may have felt when you initially began waxing.
